The suns out today for the first time in a while and I was in a mood to try something new. I needed something refreshing as I'm starting to get the summer jitters, so I took a jaunt to the local liquor store and came across this out of placed tall bottle on the shelf called Galliano.
Galliano has a yellow hue to it. It almost looks like its an expensive bottle of olive oil that you would find at TJ Maxx or a Home Goods. Galliano is easy to spot because the bottle is very skiny and about 2 feet tall. Without knowing anything about the product or being able to read any of the ingrediants on the bottle due to them being in a foreign language, I decided to give it a try...I was not disappointed.
Galliano, is a sweet herbal Italian liqueur made up of a wide range of herbs and spices including; Mediterranean anise, juniper, must yarrow, star anice, lavender, peppermint, cinammon, and vanilla.

On first taste, I was quite taken back as it reminded me of Sambuca or even a lighter Absinthe. The peppermint and licorice really come to the forefront with a hint of vanilla, and juniper on the backend.
I was not expecting the licorice taste of this liquer. My first thought was that Galliano might be good in a rendition of the Gin based cocktail, The Corpse Reviver II.
I got my brain thinking and come up with a great refreshing cocktail much like the Corpse Revivier II. I call it, The Summer Reviver, since summer is approaching.
How I make the Summer Revivier:
Build this cocktail in your Double Old-Fashioned Glass
2 oz of Gin
1 oz of Galliano
1/2 oz of fresh squeezed lemon
1/2 oz of Simple Syrup
Stir over lots of ice
Slap a handful of Mint springs in your hand and garnish
